If you check out the Store History Page, you'll see that the origins of the store were heavily oriented towards Bulk Foods. In fact, when Whole Foods Market was started in 1983, we carried ONLY bulk foods. The store was actually called "Bulk Food Emporium" for the first few years of its existence.

We still strongly believe in the original and important purpose of offering a large selection of basic food products in a form that allows the customer to purchase what they want in exactly the quantity they want without the excessive and expensive packaging found on so many products found on grocery shelves. Believe it or not, Whole Foods Market offers one of the largest selections of Bulk Foods of any similar store in all of Canada. We will continue to support this concept as we truly believe that Bulk Foods makes a difference - both in keeping food costs down and helping to eliminate unnecessary environmental consequences.

Our Bulk Foods department truly includes everything from "Soup to Nuts" We have a huge turnover in this department so you can be sure that everything is ultra-fresh.

Many of our bulk items require some sort of specific recipe or instructions. For example, if you purchase one of the many soup mixes that we carry, you may need a list of ingredients and/or a set of instructions. Just ask at the checkout and we'll be glad to help you out.

We also offer any of our bulk items in even larger quantities if you need something for a big party or large gathering etc. Ask our Grocery Manager Juan Pakula for help in placing an order for a full case of anything in the Bulk Food Department.
